The initiators of Mazagan City Center project have a clearly defined notion of an environmentally responsible city. Their specifications for the city state that the environmental footprint must be reduced as much as possible. The priority will thus be to build the new city while respecting the existing environment, particularly by incorporating the natural grid pattern already present in the region’s agricultural plains. Most of the neighbouring forest regions will be preserved and even integrated into the project; green spaces are a central part of the development plan. Damaged areas will be restored. Mazagan City Center’s buildings and infrastructure will also be environmentally sound, with their design allowing for optimal integration into the site’s topography.
Generally speaking, development will be centered around environmental protection and restoration, optimization of green spaces, efficient management of energy, waste, and water (especially through water reuse), and the desire to avoid uncontrolled urban intensification.
